A hump yard is a type of railroad classification yard where rail cars are sorted and organized for efficient transportation. In a hump yard, incoming rail cars are pushed up a hill, or "hump," and then released to roll down the other side. As the cars roll down, they are directed onto different tracks based on their destination or the next part of their journey. This process allows for quick and efficient sorting of rail cars for onward transportation. **

The hump that can form from scratching is typically caused by the release of histamine in response to the irritation of the skin. Histamine is a compound that is released by the body's immune system in response to allergens or irritants, and it can cause the blood vessels in the skin to dilate, leading to swelling and redness. This can result in the formation of a raised, hump-like area on the skin where the scratching occurred. Additionally, repeated scratching can further irritate the skin and exacerbate the hump. **
